Comprehensive yacht insurance
The estuaries and flotilla moorings of the UK and abroad are lucky enough to be teeming with dinghies, RIBs, yachts and alike and each year the numbers swell evermore. This creates for a great atmosphere but also inevitably serves as a situation within which an ever higher number of boat insurance incidents, particularly in the summer months when the coastal waters are both at their busiest but also have the highest proportion of amateur boaters afloat. It is for this reason that we always recommend our customers take out fully comprehensive yacht insurance in particular due to their higher vessel value.
Whilst third party cover for theft is very often the norm for smaller vessels, with yachts their inevitable is usually a higher repair cost in the event of an incident. Whilst experienced boaters will no doubt feel more confident about their own skills so as not to cause an incident, it is unfortunate that recent years has seen a small but nevertheless gradual inclination in the number of unreported incidents. Incidents where an unattended vessel has been damaged but no notification has been left for the owners, thus again even for the experienced yachts man or yachts lady, we still recommend comprehensive insurance for ultimate peace of mind.
We also recommend all customers read the small print of their yacht insurance quotations as often some factors you may consider to be standard or not or other useful bonus factors can be covered which make you realize that paying a little extra instead of going for the cheapest quotation is a worthwhile venture. For example Mercia Marine does not charge any excess on many 1st claims or provides automatic free racing cover for dinghies. In all instances though, Mercia are no differ to other insurers so conditions must apply, so again read the specific policy details to learn how you will benefit.
