Boat Insurance Options
Some people question whether to buy boat insurance, but in actual fact most boaters opt to cover themselves comprehensively, thus covering themselves against the vast majority of possible outcomes no matter who is at fault.
As a minimum you may of course opt for third party cover and decisions regarding this may be determined by your means or considered valuation of your vessel. However repairing a craft is rarely a low cost exercise whatever the vessel type therefore we suggest the extra for comprehensive cover is usually a longer term saving.
Additional extras you may also wish to consider include breakdown, waterskiing cover, contents cover, no claims bonus protection and legal cover… these all give added protection and peace of mind. All such boat insurance policy additions inevitably come with additional terms and conditions that are applied by the boat insurer so as always the advice is to read the small print, which insurers are bound by law to clearly state.
Cheaper quotations naturally are likely to come with more clauses and policy stipulations which increase the likelihood of infringements that prevent the insurer paying upon a claim… as we say read the small print. Particularly low quotes are usually such as the policy standard is poor, we at Mercia Marine pride ourselves on providing value for money which will result in continued repeat custom for years to come… that doesn’t mean that we always intend to provide cheapest quotes however.
